An educational and research based exhibition about the establishment and building of the Foundry Art Centre's building.
My Thoughts
Though we didn't have any records of how old the Foundry's building was, we at the Foundry Art Centre decided to finally put together a celebratory exhibition of our estimated 100 year anniversary. Using photo evidence from the local historical societies we discovered the building that is standing today must have been erected between 1919-1922. From there we gathered all records and artifacts that we could find in order to put on a foundational and educational exhibition for the public to enjoy.
The exhibition naturally was organized as a timeline, from left to right it we showcased maps and photographs from the 20th century to the 21st. The building itself has seen the city and the river change drastically over the years, and though it was a small slice of the St. Charles Area, we helped to educate and showcase the history of the area's economy and development.
This exhibition came to fruition thanks to the research and dedication of the Foundry Art Centre staff, especially Madeline Cameron who was a great research partner.
