My Thoughts

This was an exhibition I was so honored to get the chance to curated and collaborate with so many great female and male artists on. How we all perceive the past and interpret it in the present is fascinating to me, and in such a struggling time in Feminism as the fight for white American women's right to vote is unique as we reflect on the anniversary of such a monumental endeavor.
This exhibition held 46 pieces from 34 artists who reside in 16 states in the US, along with artists from Canada and the Republic of Korea. It was so very unique to see how they interpreted the prompt of a reflection of an anniversary as some had sensitive works, others political, and even more so which reflected on their own experiences as a woman today. When installing the work I was trying to stay conscious of the time-lapse of history, and create a seamstress' narrative of the start of the marches to today's. I hoped that by putting on this exhibition we celebrated the strength and resilience of women, while also recognizing that this point in time is merely the starting point of hearing women's voices.
