My Thoughts

Before this exhibition I had never the chance to work with so much fiber arts, and it was a wonderfully eye opening experience. This exhibition was distinctive as its key draw was its sheer size and volume of works, the majority, though 2Dimensional, were hung from the ceiling.
The process with this show was sizing and linework. Strong bolder works were put on the backsides of dainty and subtle ones, giving the space a feel of pattern and surprise around every corner. The quilts that were hung were hung in the center of the room were made to create a sense of physical, colorful depth which people could walk through and explore.
This was the first traveling exhibition I had ever put together, and the first time I got to work closely with another gallery to put on a show. It was exciting to unpack the over 80 quilts in the span of a week, and to have to install them all properly with a team in less time than that.
